The stock Coleman air conditioner is a 13,500 BTU ceiling mounted air conditioner unit. The base unit runs off of the generator or 30amp shorepower.
Notes and Tips #
- The unit circulates air only.
- The unit has two knobs, the first knob is the mode knob. The second knob is a temp control knob
- There are three upgrades for the stock unit:
- A heater element which is approx 5600 BTU. It won’t replace the Truma, but it will augment it quite well. Of note, the heating element can run off of a 15a circuit. The Air Conditioning needs 30a
- The entire control piece can be replaced with an actual thermostat configuration which includes a bluetooth / smartphone application. The benefit is the AC will only come on when necessary and the the fan only runs when the compressor is running
- If the generator has issues keeping the AC unit functioning, a soft start or hard start can be added to alleviate this.
