The SCA pop top provides an additional bed are to the Solis campervans. The box spring utilizes the Froli system of plastic springs https://www.froli.com/en/bed-systems/
Notes and Tips #
- The poptop has room for a 2″ mattress topper and many keep their sleeping bags/bedding (except pillows) up there all the time.
- The very top front of the poptop canvas has a little strip of material covering an long thin screened opening.
- As discussed many places online the pop-top has a few issues.
- The vent on the poptop which opens and closes has a tendancy to whistle while driving. If it is open the whistling is quite loud, if it is closed it is better, but still there. Many have foudn various solutions including using various objects to plug the hole completely
- Latches come undone while driving
- There are tow latches, one on each side, that keep the poptop closed while driving. These latches clamp and twist and then a safety strap goes across them. The main issue has been the safety strap is too loose and doesn’t keep the latch in place. Moving the anchors for the safety strap seems to resolve this issue.
- “Leaks”. The roof on the solis isn’t flat in the read but instead has grooves. When the poptop is down, the rear of the pop top doesn’t seal tightly to the roof due to these grooves. The front however seals well. When parked nose down, rain water will run under the roof, but not in the bed area to the front. The water will pool due to the seal in the front and at some point it starts coming over the inside edge of the poptop into the cabin area.
- Winnebago resolved this with little adhesive plastic peices that break the seal at the front allowin the water to drain.
