This mod is fairly simple, but most get hung up in a couple places. The idea is to remove the rear portion of the under floor storage to allow access to the storage without having to open the big doors in the floor.
To remove the back board, the one with the hand cutouts:
- Open floor doors and prop/secure
- Unscrew all obvious screws from L braces attached to rear board
- Close floor doors
- Open Driver Side cabinet, reach in and around to where the rear board would like hit. There is an L brace in there that needs to be unscrewed.
- Remove grate behind the Water Panel, perform the same procedure and remove the L brace from the other side.
- Now that all the screws are out, there are a few large staples going through the floor into the top of the rear board by where the hidden L braces were just removed.
- Twist the bottom of the board out and away from the floor. As you twist and pull the board out, long staples should be showing on each side coming through the floor.
- Snip or cut staples
- Remove board and cleanup staples. Cut short, etc.
- The board is now free and can be removed/put in place.
- Optional: Mount magnets, clips, etc to board so that it stays in place. Ours would fall down easily, so we used magnets.
- Optional: Some have put drawers in place. That is a whole different project.
